Massage Amsterdam after a day in the Amsterdamse Bos, the city forest
Written for visitorsOn the south-western edge of the city lies a forest planted on purpose, larger than most visitors expect, with a long rowing course, a goat farm and paths that run for hours. A day in the Amsterdamse Bos is a day outdoors without leaving town, and a massage in Amsterdam is a calm way to finish it.
The Amsterdamse Bos was planted in the last century as a park for the city, on low land beside Amstelveen, and it has grown into real woodland with lakes, meadows and long straight avenues. Visitors come for very different days. Some hire a bicycle at the main entrance, some walk the trails to the goat farm, some watch the rowers on the Bosbaan, the long straight course for races, and in summer the open-air theatre fills the evenings. Nearly all of them come back to the centre tired in a way the canals never quite manage.
Outdoors from morning to evening
The Bos is big enough that people misjudge the walk. A loop to the goat farm and the pancake house and back to the entrance easily fills an afternoon, the paths are soft underfoot in places and muddy after rain, and the open stretches by the water catch the wind. Cyclists cover more ground and come back with stiff shoulders and a sore seat; the hub page on a day on a bicycle deals with that side of it. Walkers come back with heavy legs and, on a fine day, a face that saw more sun than expected.
From the forest to a massage in Amsterdam
The trip back into town takes a while, by bus, tram or bicycle, so write before you leave the trees. Give the hour you expect to reach your room rather than the hour you are writing, and ask for the length you want. Leave time for a shower, because a day in a forest brings a fair amount of it home on shoes and trousers. Bear the forest's own hours in mind too: the pancake house and the cafés by the entrance tend to close earlier than city cafés, and the buses back run less often in the evening than the trams in town, so leaving at the end of the afternoon rather than at dusk keeps the booking simple. Once the reply has named who is free and you have accepted, she arrives forty to sixty minutes after confirmation at your address in the centre.
Where the session takes place
The forest lies mostly within Amstelveen, though the city of Amsterdam looks after it, and the session never happens there. It happens in your own room, wherever in central Amsterdam you are staying, with your heating, your shower and your door. The outcall entry explains why every booking begins with an address, and why the house keeps no premises of its own.
